Questions, answered straight
Is this actually built for students, or just a generic resume checker?
Built for students. The scoring is calibrated to internship and entry-level standards — the bar a campus recruiter uses, not a 10-year senior manager. It knows a strong first bullet for a junior looks different from one for a VP.
Is my resume stored anywhere?
Never on disk, and not in a database — there isn't one. Your file is read in memory and released once the text is out. One honest exception: your finished report is kept in server memory for up to an hour, so that refreshing or hitting back doesn't spend another of your free analyses. That report quotes lines from your resume, so those lines are in memory for the hour too. It's never written to disk and it's wiped on restart. The privacy page spells all of this out.
What does the ATS score actually measure?
Machine readability, not writing quality — section headings, reading order, real text instead of images, conventional dates, and whether key details are stranded in headers, footers, or tables. The exact things Workday and Greenhouse choke on. A beautifully written resume can still score badly here.
Will it work with a scanned resume or a Canva template?
Yes. Text-based PDFs and Word docs are read directly; scanned or image-based PDFs are read with OCR, so a photo or scan of your resume works too. Heavily designed templates often parse poorly in real ATS — that's exactly what the ATS score is there to catch.
Is the score harsh?
Deliberately. A merely competent student resume lands around a six. Inflating scores to be encouraging is how people keep submitting the same resume that keeps getting screened out.
